I can't pay my reinstatement fees!

What do I do?

On July 15, 2013 the State finally acknowledged the disaster of their own creation: reinstatement fees.  The add up so quickly and are so oppressive many residents now in their twenties will die owing reinstatement fees.

The below assumes you only owe reinstatement fees.

1. Discharge the reinstatement fee by filing bankruptcy

Reinstatement fees are discharged by bankruptcy. For a person who is carrying an overwhelming debt load, this may be the only option.

In this case, you do not pay back the fees.

2. Installment (payment) plan = valid license (or ability to test or ability to renew)

You have to pay back at least $50.00 per month.  You must prove you have insurance.

Your license becomes either valid, you become able to test for a new license or you can renew, whichever affects your particular facts.

Go to the Regional Reinstatement Office at 12000 Snow Road, Parma, Ohio.  CLICK HERE

Your license will immediately become either valid, or, if you are expired, you'll have to ability to renew, or, if you have to retest, you can then take the test.
